1st Draft.

This is the first draft of my college magazine cover. I like the colour of the masthead as it's bright and demands attention. The colour links to the house style of the college website which I intended to do. I like the font I decided to use for the masthead as it connotates technology which my target audience- students are interested in.

I think I will move the position of the masthead from the top right, to the top left. This is mainly because it is a convention of a magazine cover for the masthead to be on the left hand side. This is because we have been trained through reading from a young age to look to the top left first. Also, magazines are displayed in a way only the top left of the magazine is shown, if my masthead is not there nobody will know what it is and therefore will not pick it up to read it.

I like the range of sizes of the anchorage on my text. The main article title is the biggest as it implies this is the most important thing in the magazine. There are small captions underneath the sub-headings which give the audience a little more information about the articles. I would like to put these in different colours- maybe a purple or green. I would like to do this as it will draw the audience's attention as it will stand out from the text, as well as this it will give the magazine connotations of trendiness. It will also connotate youth and freshness. Using a purple or green colour for my captions will also reflect the house style of the college website.
