Masthead

I have chosen to use the name Radar. This almost gives me a gap in the market because it communicates to the target audience thatthis magazine is about up and coming artists in the rock industry; like they're on our radar.

I have decided not to use this font because it looms quite unprofessional. I do like how futuristic it looks but I think it's a bit too thick and sqaured as a font.

I really like this font and have decided to use it. The main reason is because it will be recogniseable to the target audience as it's the same font 'The Sex Pistols' used on one of their albums. Because this band is a rock band it will emphasise my magazine as a rock magazine.

I like this font however I don't like the way it's lowecase letters and I don't think it will create enough attention.

I like this font as it's similar to the 'Kerrang' masthead. However it isn't very easy to read and may put the target audience off purcahsing the magazine. It does reflect the messy style of rock music.

This font is quite eye catching to the audience, is clear to read however the letters are quite narrow and long and may take up too much space on my magazine cover.

My ideas for magazine names. I either want them to mean something, stand for something is abbreviated, or reflect the rock genre.

Incorporating market research into my magazine.

Price.
I now know that the cost of my magazine will be £2.80. I think that this is a reasonable price for a music magazine and I know that my target audience of 15-24 year olds will be able to afford it as they said so in my questionnaire and poll.

Location.
The most popular answer on my questionnaire was that the target audience are most likely to purchase a magazine in a supermarket. However I think that if the institution was large enough I would distribute my magazine to supermarkets and newsagents, as well as this I would allow the demographic to purchase my magazine online as it will then be accessible to everybody. My magazine will be sold all over the country to ensure it would be accessible to every region.

Coverlines.
Although my main headline will be about my artist/band on my front cover, I will still feature other articles in my magazine. The five most popular answers that the audience voted for were details about live gigs and concerts, exclusive info about up and coming artists, top 10 album and single charts, interviews with famous artists and posters. Although I need a lot more articles on my contents pages; these can be in the 'most read' section or they can be the main articles in the magazine.

Existing texts.
my audience said that their most read magazine was Kerrang. This is helpful as it shows specifically the kind of rock music they listen to which can really help me when I create my magazine. As well as this, it gives me clues as to what sort of layout, images and font the target audience would like me to use. Knowing this information can allow me to see what Kerrang magazine doesn't have and allows me to create a gap in the market for my rock music magazine.

House style.
The participants who took part in my questionnaire voted for me to use a house style consisting of the colours; black, white, yellow or red. I will therefore incorporate these colours into my layout as I too think they will work sucessfully as they are exciting, vibrant, slightly aggressive colours when combined and reflect the genre of music I'm communicating.

The results are in.

I asked 20 people to carry out my questionnaire and people who read my blog voted on my poll.
I have calculated their response and I will write the most popular answers. (the most popular response will be underlined, in bold and changed to a different colour).

Price

I think that I will produce a magazine that is to be distributed every fortnight. This is becase it will still be up-to-date with exclusive information in the rock music industry, however it will look slightly more professional as the institution would have a longer time to write the articles and produce the text. The magazine would have more pages than an average weekly magazine as it woud have more information to communicate to the target audience.

I think that that my magazine will be priced between £2 and £3, I think this is a reasonable amount for a magazine produced every two weeks. I will carry out some audience research in order to find out the price my demographic are prepared to pay.
